"What Support do Innovators of Digital Public Goods Need?"

In June 2022, the UN Global Pulse shared a report by Faye Callaghan and Ahmed El Saeed on the types of support needed by those who create DPGs. Digital public goods, such as open source software, open data, open artificial intelligence models, open standards and open content need more investment and innovation. Research into this issue identified challenges faced by innovators, as well as their needs in developing sustainable business models and finding funding. This report provides an overview of the research findings, clearly links DGTs to achievement of the UN SDGs, outlines UN Global Pulse’s plans to work with innovators, and sets out actions that those interested in DGTs can take to provide necessary support to innovators.
